Hello Runkle School Community,

Happy New Year! I hope this message finds you all well. As we come upon the new year and almost 100 days of school, I plan on holding grade level assemblies with our students this week to share my thoughts about the year so far and thoughts for closing out the school year. I have had the pleasure of observing classroom teaching and giving feedback to teachers. The energy our teaching team brings to Runkle is exciting and I look forward to spending more time in the classroom supporting teaching and learning.

In March I will hold a parent meeting to share additional thoughts that came from our first meeting in October and to share ideas for the next school year. More information on the exact date and time to come. On Fri, Jan 12th, 8:05am there will be a Grade 7-8th Q&A parent meeting to discuss end of year events and the musical that will be held during April. I hope to see many Grade 7-8th parents there.

I also want to share with you that our school Crossing Guard John Kilgallon passed away suddenly over the winter break. He was on vacation, out of state with his family, and suffered a heart attack. John was a Lieutenant with the  Brookline Fire Department for over 30 years and has worked as a crossing guard for the past two years. Our condolences go out to his family.

Our School Site Council will continue to update our Runkle Handbook and we are hoping to share the first draft with families later in the Spring.

ACCESS Testing for English Language Learners have begun this month and will continue into February. For more information regarding ACCESS Testing, please visit the WIDA (https://www NULL.wida NULL.us/assessment/ACCESS20 NULL.aspx) website.
