Hello Runkle School Community,

I would like to thank the parents and guardians for their efforts this past week, ensuring students were picked up on time at dismal and then supervised out on the playground. Your attention to this matter is helping our students to engage in effective ways on the school grounds after school.

unnamed-2The school year is quickly ramping up with many activities and events. This week is Professional Development Release Days where many of our teachers will continue their training in literacy collaborative and math enrichment workshops. As part of classroom norms and discussions many of our teachers refer to posters to help students persevere in their growth mindset.

unnamedI have seen how this supports our students in learning Spanish as part of our World Language Program. They sing in Spanish to learn their alphabet and numbers, or engage in Spanish Number Bingo to support them in retaining the numbers in another language. This growth mindset is really helping our students stretch their learning in order to capture the Spanish language.

I’m looking forward to another wonderful week of learning at Runkle!
Your Principal, Genteen Jean-Michel
