What an exciting few days for us at Runkle! The staff, students and families have been very welcoming the past few days. Students have asked me about my day daily and smile ear to ear when they see me! It makes me feel welcome and energized.
The teachers started the week preparing the classrooms for our students and meeting with me to discuss some topics that they have shared during our individual meet and greet this summer. We have identified several priorities regarding operations and I look forward to sharing them with you all during my presentation at the September 19th PTO Open House. I also plan to share what I have heard from parents on what works well at Runkle and what needs attention.
Runkle school has over 16 exit doors! Most of them are open during the arrival and dismissal times. I ask for your patience and understanding as I learn more about the “Runkle Way” and calm down from my fears which I will share with you on September 19th :)
I am working on enforcing the school handbook that states “breakfast in the cafe begins at 7:30am and our classroom doors open at 7:55am in order to start our academic day at 8am.” It is imperative that students do not report to the classrooms before 7:55am to allow teachers time to get into the building and prepare for your students’ academic day. I can tell that the school year will be great and I look forward to learning and sharing with you all!
