EVERYONE IS WELCOME — YOU are Runkle

The last of MCAS testing for the 2016-2017 school year comes to an end this week, with 8th graders taking their second Mathematics session on Monday, and 5th and 8th graders taking Science on Wednesday and Thursday.  For 4th and 8th graders across the state, MCAS testing in the subjects of English Language Arts and Mathematics has been computer-based this year, with students at Runkle using Chromebooks within their regular classroom setting. For the 2017-2018 school year, the current statewide plan is for 5th grade and 7th grade MCAS testing to be computer-based as well.  Many thanks to Ms. Murphy for her expert assistance in our smooth transition to computer-based testing!

Mrs. Guzzi’s Kids-to-Kids Book Drive yielded over 2,500 books that will be heading to South African Elementary Schools. Thank you to all who participated! This was the largest K-2-K drive in the history of Mrs. Guzzi’s project. The students I spoke with were so happy to be donating books from their own bookshelves to be shared with children on the other side of the world.  Thank you to Mrs. Guzzi for her commitment to this project, and to all of the Runkle student helpers who sorted, categorized, and boxed the thousands of books for shipping!
