This past Thursday morning we were blessed to hear our 1st graders, under the direction of Mr. Garrett Wallace, sing in their Choral Concert in the Multipurpose Room.  A highlight for me was “With this Song,” which has the lyrics:

We come from many places
We come with many dreams
We come with different faces
We’re different so it seems
But when we sing together
We’re singing with one voice
Yes when we sing together, we will rejoice
With a song we are united
With a song we are one
With a song we’re joined together
With a song….we’ve only just begun.
Those in attendance were also treated to a surprise visit from Ms. Gardner and her beautiful baby girl Josephine!

I am so pleased to announce that three Runkle students penned award-winning essays in the town-wide “The Woman Who Inspires Me” essay contest, sponsored by the Brookline Commission for Women.  Congratulations to Anoushka (1st place in Grade 8), Nina (1st place in Grade 7), and Mila (2nd place in Grade 7)!  These students will be honored at a special celebration this Thursday evening at 6:30 at the Brookline Public Library, where each of the award winners will present their essays.

Runkle was quite well represented in last weekend’s Brookline Education Foundation’s 5th Grade Spelling Bee!  Three of the six finalists, including Spelling Bee Runner-up Quinn Kennedy, were from Runkle School.  Congratulations to all of our 5th graders who participated!
