Dear Runkle Families,

This upcoming Friday night, September 30, our very own Teresa Gallo-Toth will be part of a special celebration held at the Lincoln School, entitled “Tales from the Classroom: Personal Essays Read by the 2016 Margaret Metzger Fellows.”  Margaret Metzger was a long-time English teacher at Brookline High School who passed away in 2013, and whose memory is celebrated through this program, which is sponsored by the Brookline Education Foundation.   (Runkle parent Liz Ascoli is the BEF’s new Executive Director!)
Teachers apply to become a fellow, then work together over the summer and create their own personal essays about teaching.  These essays will be shared at Friday night’s event, which begins at 6:00 pm in the Lincoln School Auditorium.  There will also be light refreshments and opportunity for conversations following the readings.  We hope you can join us in this wonderful Brookline event, and to celebrate Ms. G-T’s commitment to and passion for education.  Thank you to the Brookline Education Foundation for all of your support for our school system!

Friendly Drop-off and Pick-up Reminders:  We ask all parents to please say your good-byes to your children in the lobby areas of the school, and allow them to walk to their lockers and classrooms on their own.  (The one exception to this is for our Kindergarten students, whose parents may wait with them outside of their classrooms.)  Members of our staff are present to assist.  The hallways of the school should be for teachers and students only.  If you have a time-sensitive message for your child’s teacher, please inform the Main Office and we will be sure the information gets to the teacher quickly.  Also, if you are picking up your child early for an appointment, please be sure to report directly to the Main Office (and not to your child’s classroom) to have your child dismissed.
Thank you for your assistance with these procedures, and let me know if you have any questions!
Jim Stoddard
