May opens up with our annual Book Fair, which is again done in partnership with Porter Squre Books, a partnership we began last year with great success.  While classrooms will be visiting the Fair in our Library throughout the week, we hope parents can come to Family Night on Wednesday, from 5 to 7 pm.  The Book Fair is also open for 15 minutes before and 30 minutes after school each day Monday through Thursday.  While there is an online option as well for the week (www.portersquarebooks.com (http://www NULL.portersquarebooks NULL.com); enter “Runkle School” in comment field), nothing beats the in-person experience!  Thank you to Teresa Gallo-Toth and the parent volunteers who make this Fair such a success for the Runkle community.

Our annual Music and Arts Week Celebration will be occurring the week of May 23.  We are working this year on having a special “artist-in-residence” for the week to work with us on a special project – stay tuned for more details!

As you are aware, our town’s “First Class” email system is unfortunately no longer living up to its name.  The Public Schools of Brookline will soon be transitioning to a new, Gmail-based email system for the town and all of the schools.  Information about the transition to “PSBmail” will be sent out shortly to all PSB families.  As part of the transition, school employees will be (mercifully) shedding our cumbersome “@brookline.k12.ma.us (http://brookline NULL.k12 NULL.ma NULL.us)” email suffixes and replacing with the more straight-forward “@psbma.org (http://psbma NULL.org)” (a roughly 40% reduction in syllables when sharing verbally!)  Again, more information to come.
