Hello, everyone.
Congratulations to our amazing 1st graders for their heart-warming spring concert this past Thursday morning.  Hearing and seeing them sing my favorite Irish song Molly Malone was a moment I won’t soon forget!
She was a fish-monger, but sure ’twas no wonder
For so were her father, and mother, before
And they each wheeled their barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying cockles, and mussels, alive, alive-O!
(Kindergarten parents, please note: the Kindergarten concert, originallly scheduled for Thursday April 14, has been moved to Tuesday April 12, at 8:10 am.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.)
A few more individual Congratulations this week, to:
• 5th graders Lila and Dylan, who participated in the Brookline Education Foundation’s 5th Grade Spelling Bee last Sunday, and who both made it to the Championship Round!
• 6th graders Rohan and Josh, 7th graders Samantha and Varun, and 8th graders Nathan, Anay, Maria, and Seth, on advancing to Runkle’s March MadChess Elite Eight!
• 8th grader Anay, for reciting 88 digits of pi this past Monday (March 14, aka 3.14)!
As the sun’s rays have shone this very day directly over our small planet’s equator, we have officially welcomed in the season of Spring (tonight’s potential snowstorm notwithstanding!).  With the warmer weather and increased daylight, we are seeing more students on the playground after school.  Please know that Runkle School does not provide supervision for the playground after 2:30/1:40.  Parents should be aware of some of our safety guidelines for the playground, which I don’t always see being followed after school!   Specifically, students should go down all slides feet first, on their bottoms, and one at a time (no trains).  Also, with the tire swing, students should be seated, with no more than three students on the swing at a time.   A more complete list of Playground Guidelines is available in the main office.  Thank you for your needed help in ensuring the safety of your children, and others!
