Congratulations to Runkle 8th Graders Claire, Briggs, and Madison for their winning essays in the Brookline Commission for Women’s “A Woman Who Inspire Me” essay contest.  These three outstanding students, as well as the women who inspire them, will be honored at a special BCW ceremony later this month, which will also include a celebration of 2016 Brookline Woman of the Year Rene Feueurman, who is the Director of the Brookline Food Pantry.

Congratulations as well to the Runkle Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball teams for the conclusion of their successful seasons.  Each team quaified for the Brookline playoffs, with the Girls making it to the Finals, where they ultimately fell to Baker, and the Boys making it to the Semifinals, where they lost to Driscoll.  Those in attendance marveled at both teams’ determination and grit, which were a theme for both squads throughout the year.

Congratulations as well to the Runkle Math teams, each of which just concluded impressive years!  The 5th and 6th grade Math League team brought home another trophy from Meet 3 in the Geometry Category, and had a 3rd place overall finish of the 9 Brookline schools (including Park) that compete in the Math League.  The 7th and 8th grade MathCounts team finished 15th in the Massachusetts State Championships (particularly impressive for a school our size), with 8th grader Iris finishing with the 11th best individual score in the State.

We hope to see you at this Friday morning’s Superintendent’s Open Forum for Runkle, which will be held in the Library at 8:00 am.
