Hello, everyone.  A couple of staffing updates this week:

Amanda Breckner has been hired for the vacant Runkle/Devotion Elementary World Language position.  Ms. Breckner is a graduate of Lesley University with certification in Elementary Education as well as Sheltered English Immersion.  A native Spanish speaker, Ms. Breckner completed her student teaching at the Heath School where she has since been working as a paraprofessional.  Ms. Breckner will spend Monday and Tuesday of next week at Devotion and Runkle, and will assume her teaching schedule on Wednesday, March 9.
Marissa Donnelly will be filling in as our primary K-8 Visual Arts teacher when Alaina Ortiz begins her maternity leave later this month.  Ms. Donnelly is a familiar face at Runkle as she has been interning with Ms. Ortiz throughout this school year.  Ms. Donnelly is completing her Master of Arts in Teaching program at Boston University, where she had previously earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design.

In other news, Interim Progress Reports for students in Grades 6-8 were posted on the Aspen parent portal this past Friday afternoon.  If you would prefer to receive a hard copy of your child’s IPR, please contact Ms. Moyer in our front office.  The 3rd Quarter ends on Friday, April 1, with Report Cards issued on Friday, April 8.

Come root for the Runkle basketball teams at BHS’s Schluntz Gymnasium this week in the Brookline playoffs!  The boys play Monday afternoon at 3:30, and the girls play Tuesday afternoon at 4:45.  The Finals, for those teams that qualify, will be on Wednesday afternoon.  Go Runkle!

We have had over 30 6th-8th graders sign up for Runkle’s inaugural “March MadChess” chess tournament!  Brackets will be unveiled on Monday, with matches set to begin Tuesday during lunch/recess in the main lobby.
