July 10, 2012

Dear Runkle Families,

We are writing to you with important information about the Runkle School building project. Yesterday, we attended a building status meeting where we learned that based upon the current status of the building project, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to begin the 2012-2013 on Druce Street as anticipated.

As you will recall, Dr. Lupini has been exploring some alternatives in case a few extra days were needed in September to allow us to begin our year in the new building. Since there is not a way to guarantee a date of occupancy in the beginning of September and since we must be able to provide for a 180-day school year, we need to have a contingency plan in place.

As disappointing as this news is, please know that we are actively planning for what the start of the new school year would look like for Runkle School and we will have an updated and detailed timeline to you by next Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Rest assured that the work is still continuing on Druce Street full speed ahead with the aim to complete our new state-of-the-art school as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Vanessa C. Beauchaine, Ed.D.
Principal

William H. Lupini, Ed.D.
Superintendent
